Two years on, VCS continues to thrive under Woodall Nicholson ownership

Woodall Nicholson CEO, Frank Barrett, celebrates the innovation and inspiration that VCS has brought to the group.

“While 2019 might seem like a lifetime ago, in business some things never change.

When Woodall Nicholson acquired VCS in November 2019, we knew nothing about the incoming pandemic or associated economic shock, but we did understand that this company provided a unique opportunity.

The ingenuity, resilience, and innovation that VCS has demonstrated in the years that followed has been staggering, and we at Woodall Nicholson are extremely delighted to have it as a key member of the family.

This is in no small part down to the talented VCS team, led by Managing Director, Mark Kerrigan who, as a key board member of the group, has been instrumental in establishing a long-term strategic plan for our emergency services division. Continued investment into the company’s future, coupled with Mark’s drive and ambition will give VCS a tremendous opportunity to go from strength to strength under his continued leadership over many years to come.

I personally am looking forward to working with Mark over these coming years to realise both his individual and business ambitions.

In our past two years together, we have already achieved great things – bringing the UK’s first all-electric front-line ambulance to the market, and building strong relationships with new and existing OEM partners.

I’m glad to say that, with Mark and his team’s continued support, VCS will take an even greater lead in the blue light sector going forward. Such is the trust that we have placed in Mark, we have already moved our police-focused business to be under VCS’s control and are committed to the long-term success of both divisions.

The financial and technological support offered by Woodall Nicholson as a whole, will also allow VCS to thrive in the new era of electrification, while also allowing it to bring even greater levels of innovation to solve customer’s challenges.

We have ambitious plans for what the future holds, and I’m confident that the next two years will see us take an even greater leap forward.

For now though, I want to thank everyone at VCS for their hard work and tenacity in what has been a superb first two years together. Here’s to the future!”
